16 Weeks

I was just telling Andy that 16 weeks seems like so far along already, until you consider there are 24 more to go!  This week was more of the same, still feeling pretty good except for the tailbone pain.  It is getting worse.  Even though the temperature has been in the 80's, I still turn on the heated seat in my car because it's like a heating pad.

Baby is the size of an avocado - 4.5 inches long and about 3.5 ounces.  That's an ounce heavier than last week, about the weight of one Snackwells cookie...

I had an OB appointment last week, all is fine.  She found the heart beat right away.  I forgot to ask what my starting weight was so I'll pick a number in my head which calculates to gaining about 4.5 lbs so far.  I asked if my tailbone pain would get worse and the doctor said it's up in the air.  It might get better as my body 'gets used to' being pregnant.  No relief yet.

It's hard to tell with my looser shirt, but I think some of the bloating has gone down this week.  I looked back at my 16 week post from last time and I also mentioned the bloat being less!  Samesies.  Ignore my squinty eyes and need for more blush.

Here's a picture from last time to compare.  Again, different clothes, but I appear to be fairly similar in size.

15 Weeks

Oops, a week late again with the post!  This picture was taken last Monday, May 21.  15 weeks!  This was a good week, Andy and I put out five yards of mulch and I felt fine!  My only complain is my tailbone when I sit for a while.  It is tough having an office job where I, um, sit all day.  It's hard to stand up due to the pain.

The little guy/girl is the length of an apple, 4 inches, and weighs about 2.5 ounces.  It looks like there's more than an extra apple in there though!

14 Weeks

14 weeks!  Time is flying.  I've felt pretty good this week - minimal nausea, not nearly as tired as before.  My only complaint is tailbone pain.  My desk chair at work is pretty crappy.  I need to remember to get up and walk around more often.

I'm a week late with the post but the picture was actually from last week!

13 Weeks

I'm pretty sure all of my readers (all ten of you) already know this, but we are on our way to having Baby Miller # 2!

I started to feel dizzy around the beginning of March.  I noticed it when I would walk around at work.  Then I noticed I was putting on some extra weight so I cut out snacks and only drank water for a week.  Usually this helps but I didn't notice a difference.  Finally I started to have an upset stomach, day after day.  I thought about stopping for a pregnancy test, but I was late getting out of work so I didn't have time to stop.  I finally did on March 15th.  As I watched the test process, I thought, "That's funny, the control line is on the wrong side."  The picture showed the control line on the right but a line quickly appeared on the left.  Imagine my disbelief when I realized it wasn't the control line!

I told Tristan right away (he was underwhelmed!) and we waited for Andy to come home to tell him.  He was so excited!

After everything we went through to have Tristan, this seems like such a miracle and a wonderful gift.  Our infertility insurance may run out at the end of 2012, our frozen embryos may not make it through the unfreezing process, and I had doubts about going through another round of IVF because our first round was close to being cancelled.  Two years later, I didn't have much confidence that it would work again.  I was trying to be okay with Tristan being an only child and it was hard.  It's crazy how things work out when you least expect them to!

When I took my test, I was 5 weeks, 3 days along.  I had an ultrasound on March 27th and they determined I was 7 weeks and 1 day.  I was able to see the baby's heart beat!  My next appointment was April 18th (10 weeks, 2 days) at the doctor's office and they were able to find the heart beat again.

I want to continue doing weekly posts with a picture, but the content will be less structured, mostly because I don't have as much time to write a lot.

My symptoms are fairly similar to last time.  I started to not feel well sometime between 4 and 5 weeks, and it ramped up to feeling bad all day, every day from about weeks 6 to 10.  I finally started to get some relief from that when the tiredness set in.  The last few weeks have been tough, I just want to go home and take a nap!

My weight has been all over the place.  I can weigh myself before bed, and when I wake up in the morning I usually weigh 4 or 5 lbs lighter.  Where does it go, I don't understand?

Unfortunately all of my early-on pregnancy clothes from last time were worn in the winter.  I don't have much use for sweaters and corduroy pants right now.  I bought a few new shirts at Macy's and The Gap this past weekend, though I'm NOT thrilled with the selection at The Gap right now.  I'm hitting up eBay and a consignment sale next week for more options.

Here's a picture of me and our little 3-inch shrimp at 13 weeks.  We haven't told many people at work, but after seeing this picture, many others have to be wondering!

Any guesses on whether it will be a boy or a girl?  We'll find out six weeks from now!  I'm thinking girl but I also thought that last time and I was wrong.  :)

Tristan is Ten Months Old

Tristan is ten months old!

Tristan is still in size 12-18 months tops.  He can still wear his 12 month pants but they JUST fit.

We took a Sunday trip to the Children's Express Care this month (another ear infection) and he weighed in at over 22 lbs. Tristan still has four teeth, but his two incisors are ready to break through any day now.  He is drooling like crazy!

Tristan still sleeps great.  He almost always sleeps through the whole night without waking up.  He takes great naps at home, not so great naps at day care.  There is too much to do there!

Nicknames this month - Tristan Bear

Tristan is still walking along furniture and he LOVES to push his musical walker toy around.  He goes back and forth across the living room.  He's now able to scoot around to the other side to push it back across.

Tristan is still on a similar food schedule compared to last month.  He still drinks 4 or 5 bottles per day and eats three meals.  He has been trying lots of new 'big people' foods.  He still isn't a fan of feeding himself though.  If we put food on his tray, he either smashes it, pushes it off the tray, or sometimes he'll bend his head down and pick it up with his mouth.  So funny!

Tristan has learned to say some new sounds this month.  He can finally say ma-ma!  He also like ya-ya and of course his old stand-by da-da.  He knows the word 'up', if you say it he puts his arms up and knows he's going to be picked up.  When he gets up in the morning and talks, he likes to whisper.  Cutest thing ever!

Things Tristan Loves: Pushing things around, sliding anything around on the floor, shaking everything (including the TV stand!), trying to reach anything on the living room tables, eating his socks, chewing on his burp cloths, finding anything 'new' within reach, reading books, turning pages, chasing balls around the room, being with people, pictures of cats, unraveling toilet paper.

Things Tristan Hates: The gate between the living room and the kitchen, dogs in his face, touching cooked apples, eating on his own.

Since I'm already overdue on this post, I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves this month!

Tristan is Nine Months Old

Tristan is nine months old!

Since we've had an unusually warm March, we've had to run out and buy some short sleeved shirts rather quickly.  I'm buying size 12-18 so they should fit through the summer.  "Should" is the key word.

We had a pediatrician appointment this month and he weighed right around 21 lbs. We have his 9 month checkup this week so we'll be getting updated numbers very soon!  Tristan's top two teeth are coming in, one a little further than the other but they've both broken through.

Tristan was a little under-the-weather this month.  He had had a cold for a while and one morning he woke up with a sinus infection, pinkeye, and a double ear infection.  Poor baby!  I took a vacation day and stayed home with him and luckily he had the weekend to continue recovering.  He rebounded pretty quickly.

Tristan is still sleeping very well.  Lately he hasn't wanted to go to sleep in the evenings, I think because his last nap is ending too late.  He likes to play in his crib when we lay him down.  He'll stand, sit, lie down, play with the sleep sheep, throw his burp cloth up in air, etc.  He's funny to watch!  Eventually he calms down and goes to sleep.

Nicknames this month - Tristan Bear

Tristan can now walk along furniture while standing.  He's had a good time exploring the house.  He tried to crawl behind the couch one day and Andy had to rescue him!  He likes standing at the windows especially at day care where he can watch other kids playing outside.

Tristan is on the same food schedule - same 5 bottles and increased jar food.  He is still not a fan of other food.  I give him mashed bananas sometimes and he is okay with them.  He did not like cottage cheese, he wouldn't swallow the chunks unless he had a sip of water.  He's doing much better drinking from a sippy cup and he knows to tip it up now.  He can also hold his bottles really well!

Tristan has just started being a little leery around strangers.  If he doesn't see you everyday, you are a stranger.  It takes him a little bit of time but he eventually warms up to people.

Things Tristan Loves: Opening and closing the French doors, walking and pushing around his toys, sliding down his mini sliding board, chewing on the living room tables and TV stand, tickles, reading books, going to restaurants, and checking out the food on other babies' high chairs at day care.

Things Tristan Hates: Being alone in the living room, diaper changes, colds, bright sunlight, and going to bed when he's not tired.

More pictures?  Didn't we just take these?

Whoa, the chair moves!

I'll smile for you one time!

Wait, I can see out the window!

Hey Tigger, you're looking smaller than I remember.

Weeeee lift my legs!

Aren't I such a good little boy, dad?

I don't know what you want, mom.

Sleepy bear!

What?  More cottage cheese for dinner?  Seriously?

This photo shoot is over!  I'm outta here!
